Jamonta Waller is wanted by programs around the nation, but only a select few are still in the mix for his services after a cut to his list on Saturday.

Georgia remains in the mix, as well as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M .

The Bulldogs, with inside linebackers coach and co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann leading the way, are set to host the On3 Industry Ranking No. 7 linebacker in the nation for an official visit in late June, as well.

Waller plans to see Athens June 23 through June 25.

Currently, Auburn, Penn State, and Florida are also on the list for his official visits, with an open spot remaining. Texas A&M, Alabama, South Carolina, and Tennessee are under consideration for that trip.

A native of Picayune Memorial High School in Picayune, Mississippi, Waller is also still considering in-state Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

Kirby Smart’s squad, however, has a unique appeal, as the winning culture between the hedges reminds him of his own squad entering his senior year.

“They’re back-to-back champs just like us in high school,” Waller told On3’s Sam Spiegelman this spring. “They really give me great advice, and I like talking with Georgia a lot. In a million years I wouldn’t have seen this, but I’m truly blessed.”

Of the decision to put the Dawgs in his trimmed list, Waller shared the connection he has with his potential coach as a selling point.

“Coach (Glenn) Schumann says that he doesn’t just want to develop me on the field. We talk a lot and says he wants to also develop me off of the field. With both of us being back-to-back champions, I feel like we have the same qualities and ambition to win,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons.

Jamonta Waller ranks as the nation’s No. 80 overall prospect in the Class of 2024 per the On3 Industry Ranking and is the No. 2 prospect in the state of Mississippi for the cycle per the same metric.

Where Georgia currently stands at linebacker in 2024

Currently, the Bulldogs hold a single commitment at the linebacker position in Chilton County, Alabama-product Demarcus Riddick.

Alabama and Auburn, however, are working heavily to keep the four-star Georgia commit in-state when all is said and done.

In our recently released way too-early defensive mock class, we also penciled in Jefferson (Georgia) five-star Sammy Brown for Georgia’s 2024 linebacker class.
