Top Georgia WR target Tyler Williams set to see Athens this weekend
As one of the nation’s top prospects, Tyler Williams is among Georgia’s biggest targets for the Class of 2023.
And the Bulldogs are considered a heavy favorite to land him per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, with a 95.2-percent chance of securing his services in the end.
Today’s news may strengthen those notions, with Williams tweeting his plans to spend the weekend with the Bulldogs.
Williams has previously visited Georgia for an official visit over the summer, coming in the second week of June.
With a commitment set for September 27, Williams has been complimentary of Georgia’s work in the past.
“That’s probably one of the most caring schools I would say like outside of football,” Williams said to On3’s Chad Simmons. “It’s not just all football there. They develop you as a man.”
Georgia was able to establish that feeling with Williams during his official visit, a trip he walked away from with a much deeper knowledge of the program.

“I was able to spend more time with the coaches and players and was able to get a real feel for them,” Williams told DawgsHQ following the trip. “I met a couple guys on my unofficial, and we really just linked up this weekend. They just let me know why they chose UGA and how it’s changed their life. This gave me a great view, and they have set themselves pretty high with me as of right now.”
He was quick to mention the off-field aspects after that trip, as well.
“They build relationships with you outside of football, but it’s not only that,” Williams said. “They never once will talk about or try to bash another schools name in my recruiting, which I respect. It shows me they just want me to go where I feel the most comfortable, not because of stats or what’s on social media.”
Scouting Tyler Williams
The No. 125 overall prospect in the Class of 2023 per the On3 Consensus, Williams is ranked even higher by On3.
Per the On300, he’s the nation’s No. 46 overall player.
On3 director of scouting and rankings Charles Power offered up the following scouting report to explain why.
“Former basketball-first athlete who blossomed as a wide receiver after transferring to powerhouse Lakeland High as a junior. Has a natural, well-rounded skill set at receiver. A big, fluid mover at around 6-foot-3, 200 pounds. Has plus length for the position with 33.5-inch arms. Draws on his basketball background to win at the catch point. High-points and attacks the ball in contested situations. Shows good lateral agility and spatial awareness as a runner after the catch. Continues to be a top basketball player, averaging over 15 points per game as a junior. Will need to continue progressing in the technical aspects of his game given his lack of football focus to this point.”
