Georgia defensive lineman Tramel Walthour didn’t have a decision to make without any eligibility remaining, but that didn’t stop him from having a final message for UGA fans. He shared that via social media on Monday.

“Dawg Nation, words can’t describe how much of an honor and privilege it has been these past few years to represent the G. I am extremely grateful for it all. The bonds made and memories created will stick with me for life,” Walthour wrote. “First, I want to start by saying thank you God for allowing me to be in the position I’m in today. I’m thankful for all the ups and downs. None of this would be possible without him.”

“I want to give thanks to the University of Georgia for giving me an opportunity to live out my dreams,” he continued. “To the coaches and staff members that believed in me and poured countless hours into helping mold me to become a better individual, thank you all. To my family, thank y’all for all the unconditional support. I appreciate y’all more than ever. To my teammates, going to battle with y’all day in and day out has been a blessing. I’ll cherish every moment we spent together, good and bad. I wouldn’t trade any of y’all for nothing. Love 4L. Lastly, to the most ELITE fans ever, thank you. Thank you Dawg Nation for the unlimited amount of support. You all have made playing in Sanford Stadium an unforgettable experience.”

Over the course of five seasons in Athens, Walthour saw action in 53 career contests. That includes all 15 in each of the National Championship winning seasons plus 14 this past year.

Walthour, who signed with the Bulldogs in the Class of 2018 but didn’t arrive on campus until 2019 after a year at Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College, made five starts for the Bulldogs in 2023, totaling 11 tackles including one for loss – a sack in the SEC Championship Game. He tied his career high of three tackles against Ole Miss, last doing so in the College Football Playoff semifinal of the 2022 season versus Ohio State.

That season, Walthour started 13 games and had a career-high 24 tackles and nine quarterback hurries. Four times he had the three-tackle total including a 1.5-tackle for loss day in the SEC Championship Game against LSU. Once again, his only sack that season came on the stage of the conference championship game.

Walthour is one of 12 scholarship players to have declared for the NFL Draft. Walk-on snapper William Mote is also participating in the Senior Bowl and attempting to go pro.
