Travon Walker dominates first NFL game with Jaguars: WATCH
Travon Walker‘s first NFL game will be one to remember. Even though Jacksonville lost on the road to the Washington Commanders, Walker’s road started on a tremendous foot.
Walker’s stat line is something you may expect from a career journeyman.
Four total tackles. One sack. One interception, and one forced fumble.
If anyone still doubted the Jaguars’ selection of Walker – regarded by many outside of Athens as an overrated prospect who just had a good combine with little pass rush ability – they probably won’t admit it.
Yes, Washington won the game.
But Jacksonville may have won the Draft with the first overall number-one pick of the Kirby Smart era.
Travon Walker emotional after first career game, and defeat
Wherever the emotions came from, Travon Walker wore them openly after Washington beat the Jags, 28-22 in D.C.
Maybe it was the realization of playing his first NFL game – a goal that millions pursue, but only a select few realize.
Maybe Walker was overcome with his individual performance for the same reason.
Or maybe it was some sort of combination, and frustration with the loss.
This won’t be the first time Walker experiences those emotions, as Jacksonville battles to overcome years of frustration with a young core that includes quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

It was a good day to be a number one – for Walker, and for Georgia
Travon Walker, of course, showed out as a number-one NFL Draft pick.
His Georgia Bulldogs are now number one in College Football’s Associated Press poll.
Once again, the proud Bulldog moment comes at the expense of Alabama football.
Travon Walker had three total tackles and one sack in the Dawgs’ 33-18 National Championship victory over the Crimson Tide.
This weekend, the AP gave Georgia football 53 first-place votes to overtake ‘Bama for the top spot in the polls.
Alabama still held down the top spot in the Coaches’ Poll, however. The Tide’s 20-19 win at Texas must have been more impressive to the coaches than it was to the media.
Sometimes you have to find the victories – even if it isn’t ultimately a win.
After today’s performance, Travon Walker can relate.
Just like Walker’s season and career, there’s a long way to go.
I don’t imagine they’re celebrating the #1 ranking over at the Butts-Mehre building right now, as preparations continue for South Carolina.
But you, the fan reading this story, are highly encouraged to enjoy it.
A lot of other teams and fans wish they could say the same.
