The possible ascension of Travon Walker to the top of the NFL Draft has been well documented by DawgsHQ, and with the selections just under four days away, the odds are shifting further to reflect that.

On Monday morning, both FanDuel Sportsbook and DraftKings Sportsbook have updated their odds for the No. 1 overall pick to reflect that Walker is now the favorite, overtaking the spot long held by former Michigan Wolverines pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson.

Consistent buzz around Travon Walker

The buzz around Walker had been growing for some time, as top minds across the NFL landscape have pointed to the possibility of hearing his name called first for a number of reasons:

“Around the NFL, there’s talk about GM Trent Baalke, and his draft history with SF. Year after year, the 49ers took players with incredible physical traits over the top collegiate performers. That’s Travon Walker.” – Peter Schrager, NFL Network

“I don’t think anyone outside the organization really knows what the Texans will do in Round 1. For this mock, I’m trying to think long-term with Houston, which just has to add some talent. Walker is a bit of a risk in the top 10; NFL teams are betting that his physical tools will win out over his subpar college production (9.5 sacks in three seasons). Coaches want to try to maximize that upside. There is a lot of buzz on Walker going early.” – Mel Kiper, ESPN

“Georgia did not use Walker as a traditional pass rusher. They rarely sent their defensive linemen vertically but rather created confusion through stunts. In terms of size and athletic testing, Walker is a prospect rarely seen coming into the NFL. Teams will be taking a chance on what he could become but the ceiling is very high.” – Josh Edwards, CBS Sports
