In what’s sure to be welcomed news for Georgia receivers coach Bryan McClendon, Georgia has found itself among the final ten considerations of Lakeland High School (Lakeland, Florida) wide receiver Tyler Williams.
A 6-foot-4, 185-pound wideout, Williams rounded out the group with Alabama, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, Syracuse, USC, and USF. He broke down how he arrived upon that group with On3’s Chad Simmons.
In a release with the Lakeland Ledger, Williams said of Georgia:
“I just really like the coaches there and the environment. There’s really something different and that’s a good system I can fit it.”
Williams had previously stated that the Bulldogs were among his top considerations, as well.
“Georgia has moved to the top of my recruitment,” he told DawgsHQ following a visit this spring.
McClendon’s involvement a major factor for Tyler Williams
The Bulldogs have an ace in the hole for Williams’ recruitment when it comes to his potential positional coach in Athens.
Williams has been clear that Bryan McClendon is one of the closest relationships he has in Athens and otherwise.

“Coach BMac is like a mentor to me even outside of football. He knows me outside of a football player,” Williams told DawgsHQ.
It was a relationship Williams has gone in-depth with On3 about early this week, as well.
“In my eyes, coach BMac is one of the best out there,” Williams told Chad Simmons. “He is real with me. He will tell me like it is at Georgia. You have to work there and he talks about that. Coach BMac doesn’t make it sound easy, so I really appreciate him, his approach, and how real and genuine he is.”
The atmosphere in Athens, as well as McClendon’s work, will look to impress further when he takes an official visit June 10 through 12.
