Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins arrested for failure to appear, parking ticket
Georgia defensive lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins was arrested in Athens on Monday afternoon for failure to appear in municipal court for a parking ticket he previously received. The third-year from Gaffney, S.C. was booked and released on bond of $13 within the 4:00 p.m. hour.
Ingram-Dawkins was also reportedly pulled over for speeding in Franklin County where when his information was run, police discovered the warrant for his arrest in Athens-Clarke County. According to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald, Ingram-Dawkins was cited for speeding at 9:34 a.m. the morning of his arrest on I-85 near Livonia going 90 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone.
Ingram-Dawkins saw action in 14 of 15 games last season, totaling 10 stops including 1.5 for lost yardage. He also had six quarterback pressures.
Ingram-Dawkins was particularly impressive in Georgia’s win over then-No. 1 ranked Tennessee with a fumble recovery and other important plays in the victory over the Vols. He had multiple tackles in two of Georgia’s first three games last season (Oregon and South Carolina). Later in the year, he recorded a tackle in three straight contests including the impressive performance against Tennessee. Then, to close out the year, Ingram-Dawkins once again had consecutive games with stops, coming in the College Football Playoffs against Ohio State and TCU.
“Some of those guys weren’t really high-ranked recruits when they came in here, and they got developed by Tray, who I think is as good of a defensive line coach as I’ve ever worked with,” co-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp said last fall of defensive line coach Tray Scott, mentioning the development of Ingram-Dawkins specifically. “I’d put Tyrion and Nazir (Stackhouse) and our entire room in Tray’s hands and let him develop those guys as we continue to move forward. I’ve seen improvements, drastically, in my time with Nazir and obviously Tyrion last fall a little bit, and he made huge strides in the spring.”
All of this came on the heels of a freshman season in which Ingram-Dawkins redshirted, playing in just one game. He recorded two total tackles against Charleston Southern and was considered a potential breakout Bulldog with losses on the defensive line.
