Uga X & Uga XI share Dawg House in pregame ceremony: WATCH
There’s a new Uga in Athens. As it turns out, there is room for two live, white English Bulldog mascots in the same town, if only briefly.
There’s even room in the same Dawg House.
Boom, the newest Georgia mascot, shared the field with his predecessor, Que, in a pre-spring game ceremony.
Georgia ‘collared’ Uga XI as Uga X resigned his post as a back-to-back National Championship Dawg.
While Boom seemed a little squirrelly in his post-collaring designation from Georgia Director of Athletics, Josh Brooks, Que seemed right at home.
As I filmed the changing of the Dawg collar, Boom covered as much turf as Brock Bowers on a tight end jet sweep.
The salty veteran Que just handled his business in his final appearance as Georgia’s mascot.
My favorite part of this uniquely-Georgia celebration, however, wasn’t about either Bulldog in particular.

It came just moments after Boom’s spiked-collar christening.
In the Dawg House that still bears Uga X’s name, both Boom and Que shared a moment between Bulldog pup and Bulldog elder.

Maybe the old Uga just wanted to show the new Dawg around his palatial abode Between the Hedges
For a championship Bulldog of Que’s pedigree, he had little ego about him.
This Damn Good Dawg has two titles to his name (although he regrettable missed the most recent National Championship game in Los Angeles. The distance, as it turns out, was far too great for this decorated Dawg).
Que’s final season at Sanford Stadium was one of perfection. I know they’re domesticated, but they still have that primal dawg in them somewhere.
Would anyone be surprised to see old Que flash some teeth? Go down swinging on his turf?
Pampered mascot who naps a lot or blood-thirsty wolf, sometimes the alpha just has to show the new Dawg on the block what it takes to run the show in the Southeastern Conference.
Bulldogs can be territorial, after all
As Lewis Grizzard pointed out in a bit of questionable authenticity, “Bubba, that Dawg’ll bite you.”
Not the case in Athens, Georgia, on this perfect April day.
Georgia has two National Championships in the last two seasons.
Both belong to Que.
Now it’s time for Boom to get his bearings and pick up some hardware of his own.
