Georgia has made its sixth addition from the transfer portal and it’s a running back. Micah Bell, who spent the 2024 season at Vanderbilt, has committed to Georgia per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He’s the younger brother of UGA wideout Dillon Bell, who announced on Tuesday that he’s coming back for his senior season.

Micah Bell is a third-year player who initially signed with Notre Dame as a defensive back. He appeared in three games for the Fighting Irish in 2023 while taking a redshirt, then transferred to Vanderbilt where he didn’t play in 2024.

When he announced that he was leaving Vanderbilt after one season, Bell left the door open to playing either defense or offense at the next level. Georgia has been in the market for running back, wide receiver, and defensive back in this portal market, but it has added two wideouts and three safeties.

More on the transfer portal…

The NCAA student-athlete transfer portal launched in 2018. It marked a change from when student-athletes had to get a release from their school to transfer to another and they could be limited as to where they transferred. The portal allows student athletes to simply notify their current school and its compliance department that they intend to move on to another program.

Last season, Georgia lost 21 scholarship players to the portal, watching several end up at power conference programs around the country. The Bulldogs did add to their talent however, as they’ve done before. Adding to the likes of Lawrence CagerTre McKittyDerion KendrickTykee SmithDominic Lovett and others that have joined the program in the past, UGA brought in Trevor EtienneColbie YoungLondon HumphreysBen YurosekXzavier McLeod and others that have had an impact on the Bulldogs’ 2024 campaign.
