Georgia’s social media accounts released a National Championship hype video on Sunday, and it’s voiced over by one Bulldog fans will recognize. Legendary coach Vince Dooley passed away in late October, but with the help of old footage and clips, the social media team was able to have him share one final message with the Bulldogs before their title game against TCU.

“Hi I’m Vince Dooley. For over 100 years the University of Georgia has enjoyed one of the nation’s top football traditions,” Dooley says in the voiceover. “Life as a Bulldog has always meant something very special. It’s much easier sometimes to try to get there than to have to be there and hold onto it and defend. You better get ready. You better buckle your chinstrap because they’re going to play you hard. If you can say, ‘Yeah, they’ll fight you, but you can play them and they’re going to play you for 60 minutes,’ then you’re in for a battle. They’re going to play you together, I’ll assure you of that. This team personifies the word team. Seeing everybody else working hard together and then there’s comraderie that comes forth from sharing the victory. This again historic moment in Georgia athletics will be on the minds of Georgia people for generations to come. And these Georgia fans are what it’s all about. We’ll have tremendous fans all year long. My thanks to the greatest thanks in the world, and I wish I could have been here to see and really enjoy finishing the season undefeated and being No. 1 in the country.”

Georgia takes on TCU in search of its second straight National Championship after beating Alabama to cap off the 2021 season last January. If they come away victorious, the Bulldogs will be just the third team in the last 50 years to win consecutive uncontested national championships, joining Nebraska and Alabama.

“Tremendous honor to be here, 130-something teams start out trying to achieve this. And there’s two left,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said during Sunday’s joint coaches press conference. “I think it speaks volumes to the character of both teams, the way each team has been able to win football games. I think so much is overrated about talent and what so many people put into the game of football, when a team cares about each other and they have a lot of intangibles and really good players at the right positions, it makes for a special group.”

“There’s countless hours and minutes that these teams, both of us, have spent preparing,” he continued. “It’s a long process to get to the semifinal in terms of 28 or however many days, and then you’ve got another 10. And you end up spending a lot of time together through Christmas and through New Year’s and through travel. Our guys have really enjoyed that. I’ve enjoyed it. That’s why we get into this business. And what a great stage we get to play on Monday night. And just honored to be here and represent the University of Georgia.”

Kickoff time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET at SoFi Stadium, 4:30 p.m. locally in Inglewood, Calif.
