On the end of last season…

“Last year was a year for me where I really had to play the back burner, just do what I do best, and just work with the older guys. The coaches always stayed on me and made sure, in practice, I was doing my best and giving my best effort. They always told me my time was going to come eventually, and that time came at the end of last season. I was prepared for it, thanks to the help from my coaches and teammates, and we did what we had to do.”

On transfer consideration…

“Oh yeah, definitely. There is always uncertainty in anything you do. One thing I know– for me personally, I’m a Georgia kid, so I’ve been a fan before this. I’ve been recruited by Mark Richt, so I decided this is the best place for me, whatever happens, happens. Luckily for me, everything paid off.”

On spring practice...

“Going well so far. It’s really exciting to see all the new faces in here and how they are playing in pads and even the returners getting in pads again is always exciting. So, I am looking forward to the rest of it.”

Establishing his role on the team…

“To me, it’s very important in spring and summer and in the fall for me. But I think as long as I am playing to the best of my ability, collectively, I think as long as we are playing as a unit, the best five will be out there.”

On what areas he has had to push himself the most…

“Definitely technique. Fundamentally it wasn’t necessarily there yet and that is what I have been trying to do. It is a lot easier said than done. Definitely just taking a lot of reps at it, going back and forth. Just trying to get work in after practice…keeping my pad levels low. Just really playing with grit.”

On who he is competing against in practice…

“Everybody really. Just know that it is not necessarily one person we have a big group of talented guys from the first-starters to the fourth-string. Everyone is capable of being a starter.”
