ATHENS, Ga. — Stetson Bennett and the Georgia Bulldogs are off to a fast start in the fourth quarter as the quarterback took off for a 64 yard rushing score on the first play. The touchdown, Georgia’s fourth rushing score of the day, puts the Bulldogs up 28-3 early in the fourth quarter.

Bennett and the Bulldogs led Auburn 14-0 at the half but it felt like it could have been more, and Bennett was a big part of the reason why. He overthrew Brock Bowers late in the half on what would have been a touchdown. Here’s what DawgsHQ’s Jake Rowe had to say about Bennett at the break.

I could be wrong on this but it looks to me like Stetson Bennett IV is battling something physically. The play-calling seems to indicate that with no better example than the Georgia possession after Auburn’s fumble. The Bulldogs did come back and air it out on the first play of their final possession of the half so it’s tough to say. He was acting odd during pregame warmup, like he was trying to get his shoulder loose. A couple of balls have come out of his hand weirdly in the first half.

The first five possession all ended in punts with a combined three first downs. However, Georgia got it going with a nice run by freshman Branson Robinson on his first carry of the game, going 9 yards. Daijun Edwards followed that up with a 28-yarder of his own, however the Bulldogs would end up settling for a field goal attempt following a drive-killing personal foul penalty on Darnell Washington. To make matters worse, two-time defending SEC Special Teams Player of the Week Jack Podlesny missed the attempt from 47 yards as the game remained scoreless.

The Georgia defense did its job early, forcing a pair of three-and-outs in the first four drives and Nolan Smith even came up with a stop on fourth down as Auburn attempted to fake a punt. The Bulldog offense took over at the Tiger 36 as a result and punched it into the end zone seven plays later with Kenny McIntosh doing the honors.

After yet another three-and-out by the Georgia defense, Ladd McConkey got things going in the return game with a 38-yard punt return, a sign of better things to come for the redshirt sophomore after a muffed punt earlier in the game and struggles the last two weeks. Three plays later, it was into the end zone again for Georgia as all three of the healthy running backs got in on the action. Branson Robinson kicked it off with a 23-yard carry down to the 8-yard line. Kenny McIntosh followed that up with a 7-yard carry himself before Daijun Edwards punched it in from a yard out.
