WATCH: Georgia RB commitment Jae Lamar flashes big-play ability in junior highlights

Georgia continued its red-hot recruiting roll on Wednesday with the addition of Colquitt County running back Jae Lamar. He’s the Bulldogs’ first running back pledge in the class and the second Colquitt County ball carrier to choose Georgia under Kirby Smart. Daijun Edwards was the first.
The addition pushed Georgia to No. 4 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. At 5-foot-11, 205 pounds, Lamar is the nations No. 122 overall prospect and No. 9 running back per the On3 Industy Rankings, a weighted average that includes all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He’s the No. 14 player in Georgia.
One look at Lamar’s junior highlights shows why the Bulldogs were so enthralled with the speedy running back. He flashes breakaway speed and the ability to be a top-flight weapon as a receiver out of the backfield.
Lamar picked Georgia over the likes of Auburn, Clemson, Florida State and Miami. It was the Tigers from South Carolina and the Hurricanes, however, that made the hardest push in the end. Ultimately the south Georgia standout chose to play ball for the team he grew up loving.

“I grew up a big Georgia Bulldog fan,” Lamar told DawgsHQ on Jan. 16. “I always wanted to play and be there as a running back growing up. My rec and pop Warner ball team was the Georgia Dogs. We looked just like the Georgia Bulldogs. I told my mom one day, that I would be in a Georgia Bulldog uniform. That stood out to me growing up. My whole family is Georgia Bulldog fans.”
Georgia might not be done at running back for the current class. The Bulldogs won’t be getting the nation’s No. 1 running back, Savion Hiter, but they are still very much in the mix for Chaminade Madonna (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) ball carrier Derrek Cooper. He makes his college choice on July 12.
