Georgia Football released its game trailer for the regular season finale against Georgia Tech, and the theme is “Win the Now.” Kirby Smart is a man of many phrases, and the three-word one has become a new mantra for the Bulldogs this season – especially as of late.

“Our goal this week was to win the now from Monday to today. It was win the now,” Smart said after Georgia’s dominant victory over Ole Miss just a couple of weeks ago. “We weren’t worried about what happened. The past does not talk to the future. The past doesn’t talk to the present. The present doesn’t talk to the future or past. They don’t talk, they don’t text, they don’t send each other messages. All we wanted to do was win the present, and each play that happened in the game, we wanted to win the next.”

Well, “win the now” is back. Smart and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo

“Win the now. How do you win the now? You focus on the moment to moment,” Bobo can be heard saying.

“Winning the moment. The reason we won all them moments is every minute on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, the reason we won all them moments is for this moment,” Smart added in a locker room clip shown.

The phrasing doesn’t stop there. “Anywhere, anytime, any place, we’ve got to dominate.” “Any mission, anywhere.” “Sixty minutes, or for however long it takes.” All those phrases and others were included in the 60 second look in to Georgia’s preparation for the in-state rivalry.

Georgia and Georgia Tech will meet for the 117th time on Saturday in a series between known around the Peach State as “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate.” The Bulldogs have won 18 of the last 21 meetings including five straight, and they have not lost in Atlanta since 1999. Vegas believes that the Bulldogs will do so once again this year, favoring Georgia by 24 points as of publication.

Quarterback Carson Beck leads a Georgia offense that’s top-5 in the country both for scoring (No. 5, 40.4 points per game) and total yards (No. 4, 501.8 yards per game). Individually, Beck has been equally as impressive, finding himself top-10 in several statistical categories. He could however be without a pair of his top receiving threats this week with Ladd McConkey and Rara Thomas both banged up coming out of Knoxville. That could mean a heavier dose of the ground game with Daijun Edwards and Kendall Milton or more pressure put on the likes of Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Dominic Lovett and of course Brock Bowers.

On the flip side of things, Georgia’s defense is also strong. While the Bulldogs have given up a first-drive touchdown in five straight games, they’ve done a great job of letting the early scores not affect the rest of the game. Kirby Smart’s squad is No. 5 for scoring defense, giving up just 15.1 points per game, and No. 9 in the NCAA for total defense (288.1 yards per game). Last year’s leading tackler Smael Mondon picked up where he left off as the linebacker is once again near the top of the leaderboard with 52 tackles, only passed by by Tykee Smith. He’s got 56 to go along with 4 interceptions. Others to watch when the Georgia defense is on the field include Nagurski Trophy finalist for the nation’s top defender Malaki Starks, Kamari Lassiter and a veteran group up front that helps hold things down.
