This friday night feels a little different. Unlike the previous eight games, Georgia isn’t playing an SEC team tomorrow. The Bulldogs are done with SEC play and will host UMass at 12:25 p.m. ET on The SEC Network. Since we’re just one sleep away from a UGA game, that means another great feature from the video team.

This week’s game trailer carries the title “Leaders” and it’s focused heavily on the senior class. Georgia will be honoring its seniors this Saturday as opposed to next week against Georgia Tech. It made that decision because it’s easier for families to get in town for a Saturday game rather than the Friday night game against the Yellow Jackets.

Kirby Smart calls this senior class, one that will be the winningest in Georgia history, “special” in the video. Some of these players have two National Championship rings and have only seen the team lose four games in the past four years. Many have at least one ring and have experienced just three of those losses in four years.

It’s going to take a win over UMass to set that record as the current senior class, with a record of 50-4, is tied with last year’s senior class for the best in school history. The Bulldogs 50-4 mark for its senior class is the best in FBS this season.

The Bulldogs are favored by 42.5 points over UMass and this is just the second non-Power 4 program on the schedule. Chances to give the leaders a chance to rest and allow the Georgia youngsters a chance to shine have been few and far between. Don’t think that Smart hasn’t noticed.

“This has been a weird year for us because we have not had a lot of breaks in action to get those guys playing experience,” Smart said on Tuesday, responding to a question about Nitro Tuggle. I mean, I could go through Jaden Reddell and Colton (Heinrich), Ellis (Robinson), Demello (Jones), Ondre (Evans).  There’s just so many guys. The O-linemen, the other backs who are starting to get a taste. So, I mean, I probably met with that group, I don’t know, three or four times this year as a group, and just said, ‘Stay the course. You’re going to get an opportunity.’ Because so many of them come in with high expectations and they want to play, and Nitro’s one of those guys.
