It’s been one hell of a week for the Georgia Bulldogs, and on Friday, the streak of big news continued, with the addition of four-star defensive back Chace Calicut.

A 6-foot-3, 190 pound cornerback from Houston, Texas powerhouse North Shore High, Calicut became Georgia’s twenty-third commitment for the Class of 2026 and the sixth defensive back pledge of the cycle. He joins cornerbacks Justice Fitzpatrick and Caden Harris, as well as safeties Jordan Smith, Zech Fort, and Kealan Jones.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 117 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, Calicut is the No. 15 cornerback and No. 19 prospect in the state of Texas per the same metric.

“I loved it. It is proven that Georgia can develop players. They send guys to the league and it is unmatched,” Calicut told On3’s Chad Simmons following his official visit to Athens. “What the staff does there is unlike any other college. It is a great coaching staff at Georgia and if you go there, you will max your potential.”

Calicut is a bit of a physical specimen, sporting outstanding length for the defensive back spot at 6-foot-3, and he utilizes that to his advantage quite clearly on film. He’s a long strider, a physical and willing tackler, and a strong tracker of the ball when it’s in the air, contesting catches and creating turnovers at an impressive clip.

It’s not hard to see why the Dawgs were all in for his services.

Credit to Georgia cornerbacks coach Donte Williams for his efforts in this chase, as his influence was clearly felt by Calicut throughout his recruitment by the Bulldogs.

“Donte (Williams) is the guy who did that (got me interested),” Calicut said. “His technique and the way he pushes his corners to be the best that they can be and the way he takes guys and turns them into NFL players, I’d like to play for somebody like that.”
