WATCH: Highlights of new Georgia WR commit Vance Spafford
The Georgia Bulldogs are back on the board in the Class of 2026, and this time, it’s an electric playmaker at the wide receiver position who’s in the mix for the junior class. Mission Viejo standout Vance Spafford announced his commitment to the Dawgs on Tuesday, choosing Georgia over the likes of Ole Miss, Nebraska, Arizona, Washington, TCU, Oregon, and Notre Dame.
A 5-foot-10, 175 pound pass catcher, Spafford visited Athens and when the Dawgs played host to the Bulldogs of Mississippi State in October, and that trip shifted their notions heavily. They’d been pursuing for some time, having offered in late July of this year.
“Man, everywhere he goes he’s among the best,” On3’s Chad Simmons told ‘The Flagship’ podcast earlier this season. “Last year as a sophomore had 22 touchdowns, 1,500+ yards, goes out there runs crazy times on the track and wins the fastest man at the Future 50. Once you meet him in person you see how sharp he is, how focused and self-driven he is. Not all about the glitz and glamour, just take care of business, beat the guy in front of you, be the best guy on the field that day, that night, every day.”
And Spafford does plenty of beating the man in front of him on film. Spafford showcases his ability to win contested balls, high point catches, works the sideline, and flashes the speed that Simmons spoke of above.

Currently, the Bulldogs hold the commitments of two other members of the Class of 2026 in four-star cornerbackers Dominick Kelly and Jontavius Wyman.
As far as junior wideouts go, names such as Devin Carter, recent Texas A&M commit Aaron Gregory, Connor Salmin, Nalin Scott, Keeyshawn Schneider, Bubba Frazier, and Ryan Mosley have all been attached to the Bulldogs early on.
Regardless of how the rest of the class plays out, Spafford is a strong start for James Coley and company when it comes to pass catchers.
