WATCH: Junior highlights for new Georgia OL commit Michael Uini
Georgia added a big piece, literally and figuratively, to its 2024 offensive line puzzle on Friday night. Four-star offensive tackle Michael Uini joined the class, choosing the Bulldogs over Alabama and Michigan.
He becomes UGA’s 22nd commitment of the 2024 class and the No. 3 offensive lineman to give his pledge to Stacey Searels. A short look at his junior highlights shows why the Dawgs were so bullish on the Copperas Cove High School Copperas Cove, Tex.) product.
Searels spearhead the effort that led to Georgia landing the talented tackle. The Bulldogs were third going into his official visit last weekend but they made a strong move in short order.
“I love Coach Stacy Searels. He is honest. He is genuine. Coach Searels will tell you how it is,” Uini told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Our relationship started last July and it is a no-brainer why he has put so many offensive linemen into the NFL. He is good at getting to know people and developing offensive linemen. We clicked from the beginning. My whole family likes him. On the official visit, the connection with me and the family got stronger.”

At 6-foot-7 335 pounds, Uini is the nation’s No. 150 overall prospect per the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that includes ratings from all four recruiting coverage outlets. He’s the nation’s No. 10 offensive tackle and the No. 28 player in Texas.
“Shows flashes of dominance. A light-footed mover when working to the second level. Naturally redirects laterally in pass protection. Shows substantial natural punch in hands. Can stun and neutralize defensive linemen with a quick jolt. Uini runs his feet on contact and can drive defenders at will. Shows glimpses of high-end upside but needs to put it all together. Can to improve awareness and technique in pass protection, as he surrendered some sacks as a junior. Could also ratchet up his physicality and improve overall consistency on a play to play basis. Plays basketball for his high school team and shows the athleticism to dunk flat-footed. Older for the cycle, turning 18 in the spring of his junior year.”
