WATCH: Lorenzo Carter pick six puts Atlanta Falcons ahead
Former Georgia star Lorenzo Carter has had himself a nice weekend. First, his alma mater took it to rival Florida, giving him something to brag about to teammate and former Florida Gators Kyle Pitts. Then on Sunday, Carter put his current team, the Atlanta Falcons, ahead just before halftime with an interception returned for a touchdown.
Carter, a member of Georgia’s 2017 SEC Championship-winning squad, played in 14 games last season for the Giants. He totaled 5.0 sacks, all of which came in the final four games of the season. That was a career-high for him on top of his first career interception and a career-high total for tackles (50). Since being drafted by the Giants in 2018, Carter’s total tackle number has increased each season with the exception of 2020 when he played in just five games due to injury. However, he was on pace once again top his career-high with a full season.

At Georgia, Carter was dominant in his senior season. The Norcross, Ga. native earned Second-Team All-SEC according to both the Associated Press and coaches while being named a Fourth-Team All-American by Phil Steele. Carter posted a career-high 10 tackles in the Bulldogs’ College Football Playoff semifinal win over Oklahoma, however his biggest play came on a blocked field goal in the second overtime period that allowed Georgia to win on the next possession. Carter started 10 games that season and played in all 15, leading the team in tackles in a win versus Florida and being named SEC Defensive Player of the Week after forcing two fumbles and recovering two fumbles against Notre Dame.
Carter signed a one-year contract with the Falcons during the offseason to bring the Norcross, Ga. native back to the Peach State after spending his first four seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants.
