WATCH: Newest Georgia commit, running back Chauncey Bowens highlights
Georgia added to it’s already No. 1-ranked Class of 2024 on Saturday with four-star running back Chauncey Bowens announcing his flip from Florida. The No. 92 overall prospect and No. 10 running back according to the On300, Bowens is on his official visit this weekend in Athens and had been rumored to be favoring Georgia despite his Florida commitment for quite some time.
Bowens ran for 1,193 yards and 12 touchdowns on 179 carries as a sophomore in 2021 with seven 100+ yard games. He also added a receiving score and 123 yards on 12 catches that season. According to his Hudl highlights, he once again topped the 1000-yard mark as a junior in 2022 with 1100+ yards and 11 scores.
Bowens has verified 40-yard dash and track times. Prior to his junior season, Bowens recorded a 4.75 40 at the Under Armour Miami event before showing out in the 100-meter later that spring with a time of 10.90. Bowens was measured at 5-foot-11, 215 pounds at the 2023 Under Armour Orlando camp.
Bowens had previously taken trips to the Classic City in January and March. In fact, Georgia is the only school he’s seen multiple times this year having also taken a single trip each to Florida (January) and Miami (April).
“I got to see what Georgia does behind the scenes and I liked that a lot,” Bowens told On3’s Chad Simmons about his January visit. “Everyone wants to be a national champion, so getting up there in January and seeing how hard they work, showed me a lot. I got a look at what makes Georgia national champions.”

Bowens Scouting Report
Physically-gifted runner with one of the better size-speed combinations among 2024 running back prospects. Measured at over 5-foot-11 and north of 215 pounds heading into his senior season. Has an ideal build with a powerful base and lower body. Has posted strong track times, highlighted by a personal best of 10.88 seconds in the 100 meters as a junior. Was a state finalist in the 100 meters as a sophomore with a 10.90 second mark. Shows considerable burst and easily pulls away in the open field. Explosive in his movements. Spins out of tackles and has the capability to run over defenders. Rushed for 940 yards and eight touchdowns on 130 rushes as a junior. Will need to increase his production to be on par with other blue-chip running back prospects and top draft picks at the position. Can also stand to improve his lateral agility as he looks more comfortable as a straight-line athlete at this time. Ran his fastest track times at the beginning of his junior season. Young for the cycle with a July birthday. Will not turn 18 until he’s enrolled as a freshman in college. – Charles Power, On3 Director of Scouting
