Week 4 Polls: Dawgs holding strong, opponents see movement
Georgia put forth another dominant effort on Saturday, with a 62-0 victory in Nashville over the Vanderbilt Commodores. JT Daniels completed 9-of-10 passes, Brock Bowers found the end zone three times, Ladd McConkey crossed the plane twice and the defense allowed just 77 yards. It was a team effort, and consistent with what Kirby Smart’s team has shown throughout the month of September. The Coaches Poll and AP Poll were also consistent again on Sunday, as well.
Georgia continues to occupy the No. 2 spot, still trailing the Crimson Tide of Alabama. The Bulldogs received one of the 65 votes for first-place, the same number they’ve had each poll since the season-opening win over Clemson.
Speaking of Clemson, while the Bulldogs are taking care of business on the field, their best win on the season, Week 1’s 10-3 victory over Clemson, is looking a bit less impressive given how the Tigers are performing of late. A tight game with Georgia Tech dropped them slightly last week before a bigger fall this week. After falling to NC State yesterday, the Tigers now comes in at No. 19 on the Coaches Poll. Meanwhile in the AP Poll, the Tigers tumbled to No. 25.
Also of much interest this week is the rise of Arkansas, which now hits the coaches poll at No. 11 and the AP at No. 8. The formerly No. 16 Razorbacks were able to overcome No. 7 Texas A&M 20-10 on Saturday, and Sam Pittman’s team heads to Athens 4-0 this upcoming weekend.
Looking ahead
Upcoming opponents also ranked include:
Florida jumped two spots from No. 11 to No. 9 after taking down the Tennessee Vols 38-14. In the AP, the Gators got to No. 10. Georgia plays Florida on October 30 in Jacksonville.
Auburn rose one spot after a tight win against Georgia State, with the Tigers now at No. 22. Georgia heads to Auburn October 9.

Kentucky makes an appearance for the first time this week, as well, checking in at No. 23 off of a victory over South Carolina. Georgia will host Kentucky October 16.
What the polls mean
Georgia’s got a chance to boost its stock this week against an Arkansas team that’s been on a meteoric rise.
A win Saturday could earn the Bulldogs more than the single first-place vote they currently hold.
Still, the polls may be destined to hold steady for Georgia the rest of the season if the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide continue to win in the same fashion they have to this point.
