As a captain and a key contributor on a National Championship winning team Zamir White will always be remembered as a “Damn Good Dawg.” However, the feeling is reciprocated with White having fond memories of his time in Athens too.

“It was great. Georgia is Georgia. They built me to the man that I am now, today,” White said. “Coach Smart and the whole system, it’s great. They build players to be pros. The practices, the weight lifting, the meetings, we train just like the pros.”

“Big memories,” he continued, thinking back to his last time in Indianapolis for the National Championship. “That game, was real huge for me, for my family, for Georgia fans, for Georgia. It was huge man. Next level. It means everything because we worked so hard for it. We waited so long to finally get that championship. Seeing my brothers, we did it, finally. We worked for it, we did all the camps, all the running, all the lifts. So, finally.”

While a pair of ACL injuries served as setbacks early in his career, White came into form as the primary ball carrier for the Bulldogs over the last two seasons. He said that he finally felt 100 percent around the middle of his junior year, ultimately totaling 1,635 combined rushing yards in 2020 and 2021.

“My favorite memory is probably just grinding with my brothers, going through the long, hot summer workouts with those guys and fighting for your spot,” White said. “Just going on to win the championship here, you can’t beat that feeling. That’s just next level man.”

White had a front row seat to watch the future of Georgia backs each and every day in practice. With him and James Cook gone now, the keys to “RBU” are turned over to the likes of Kenny McIntosh, Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards.

“Keep on grinding. Keep on believing in Coach Smart,” White said as advice to next year’s group. He would go on to highlight McIntosh as the one he’s most excited to see.

“Kenny McIntosh, he can run, he’s physical, he can block, he can do it all.”

White said that he’s met with the Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders and Atlanta Falcons among others. His hope for tomorrow’s (Friday) on-field workout is to “showcase it all.” White will go through all the drills, except bench press, and doesn’t have a specific goal in mind for the 40-yard dash, however he said he wants to show teams just how fast he is, even as a downhill, one-cut runner.
