Indiana football wideout Tyler Morris suffers season ending injury

Indiana football head coach Curt Cignetti announced this morning that wide receiver Tyler Morris suffered a “non-contact knee injury” that will require surgery and cause him to miss the entire 2025 season.
“We’ve stayed relatively healthy with the exception of Tyler Morris who had a non-contact knee injury and will require surgery and will miss the season,” Cignetti said during his Tuesday morning press conference.
Morris joined the Hoosiers this offseason after transferring from Michigan where he spent his first three seasons.
With the Wolverines, he recorded 39 receptions for 470 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 34 games.
Despite shaky quarterback play last season, Morris finished second on the team with 248 receiving yards and two touchdowns while finishing third with 23 catches in 2024.
Morris was a three-star transfer and the 110th-ranked transfer in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
“We’re thin number-wise, that’s for sure right now and we’re going to bring a number of walk-ons in in the summer and fall camp so we have enough. I think the freshman in time will be okay. [Myles] Kendrick and [LeBron] Bond are with us right now. I like the guys that are out there,” Cignetti said.
The 6-foot receiver was expected to replace the lost production in the slot after Indiana football lost both of their leading slot receivers from 2024 as Myles Price and Miles Cross both graduated.

With Morris set to miss the entire 2025 season, Makai Jackson who transferred from Appalachian State, will likely be in line for a bigger role in the offense next season. Jackson caught 46 passes for 745 yards and six total touchdowns.
Cignetti shared that Jackson has also been dealing with injury problems of his own.
“Makai Jackson has sort of been limited to a hamstring a little bit the last two practices. We’re thin,” Cignetti said.
The injuries have forced Cignetti to put Sam West, a tight end, at slot receiver to help run practice.
With the team thin at wide receiver Cignetti did not close the door on adding someone in the transfer portal this spring.
“I like our top-line guys. I like [Omar] Cooper, [Elijah] Sarratt, EJ [Williams], and [Charlie] Becker. I like those guys and I think Bond and Kendrick have a future,” Cignetti said. “So will we go shopping for another capable guy in case we have an injury? Perhaps.”
