Indiana basketball has landed one of the top-ranked mid-major transfers in the portal. Sam Houston State guard Lamar Wilkerson announced his commitment to the Hoosiers on Tuesday, picking Indiana over Kentucky.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Wilkerson is ranked the No. 30 overall player in the portal, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

A former four-star recruit out of Ashdown, Arkansas, Wilkerson started all 32 games for Sam Houston State this past season, posting career highs across the board. He averaged 20.5 points per game—which led Conference USA—along with 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists, while shooting 47.7% from the field.

Wilkerson was one of the most prolific 3-point shooters in the country this past season. He ranked seventh nationally in 3-point percentage and tied for fourth in 3-pointers made per game (3.41) during the 2024–25 season. He shot 44.5% from distance on 7.7 attempts per game.

The combo guard made multiple 3-pointers in all but four games this season for the Bearkats. He connected on four or more in 14 games during his final campaign at Sam Houston State. Wilkerson scored in double figures in every game this season and eclipsed the 20-point mark 17 times.

When Sam Houston State visited Assembly Hall in early December, Wilkerson scored 18 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field and 2-of-4 from 3-point range.

Outside of the game against Indiana, Wilkerson struggled slightly against power conference opponents. In nonconference losses to Baylor and Pitt, he scored 19 points on 5-of-12 shooting from three and 15 points on 2-of-9 shooting from deep, respectively.

Wilkerson earned first-team All-Conference USA honors for his efforts this past season.

In 95 career games, 63 of which he started, Wilkerson holds career averages of 13.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game on 40.0% shooting from 3-point range.

Wilkerson is the fourth player to commit to head coach Darian DeVries and the Hoosiers this offseason, joining DePaul transfer guard Conor Enright, West Virginia transfer forward Tucker DeVries and Davidson transfer forward Reed Bailey.
