Indiana freshman third baseman Will more has been announced as the Big Ten’s Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Moore played a pivotal role in helping Indiana secure a series win over Maryland, batting a stellar .500 and slugging .750.

He also posted an impressive .692 on-base percentage, reaching base safely five times on Sunday and a total of seven times throughout the week.

The freshman from Paris, Ontario, was especially clutch in Indiana’s 7-6 comeback win on Friday.

With the Hoosiers down to their last strike in the ninth inning, Moore delivered with a RBI single to left field, walking off the Terrapins in the opening game of the weekend.

On Sunday, Moore was moved into the leadoff spot for the first time in his career and responded in a big way.

He reached base five times, collecting three hits and two walks. His four runs scored marked a career high, and he tallied his second three-hit game as a Hoosier.

In addition to his offensive contributions, Moore played flawless defense at third base, recording nine assists and helping to turn two double plays without committing an error.

Moore, who has been Indiana’s primary third baseman since late March, currently leads the Big Ten with a .527 on-base percentage.

Through 32 games, he has reached base 59 times with 26 hits, 23 walks, and 10 hit-by-pitches, while also scoring 22 runs and driving in 11 RBIs.

This marks the fourth time this season that an Indiana freshman has earned the Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor, following Cooper Malamazian, Hogan Denny, and Jake Hanley.

Moore becomes the 13th different Hoosier to receive the award under head coach Jeff Mercer, and with four different freshmen earning the accolade this season, Indiana joins Rutgers (2021) as the only teams in Big Ten history to have four freshmen position players honored in the same year.
