Indiana basketball head coach Darian DeVries has added another experienced recruiter and player developer to his inaugural Hoosier staff in Tennessee assistant coach Rod Clark.

Clark is joining the Indiana program as an assistant coach, a source confirmed to TheHoosier.com on Wednesday.

Clark, 32, comes to Bloomington after four successful seasons under Rick Barnes at Tennessee, where he helped guide the Volunteers to a 109-36 record (.751), including multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, two Sweet 16s, and an Elite Eight run in 2024.

He becomes the fourth assistant added by DeVries this offseason, joining Nick Norton, Drew Adams, and Kenny Johnson.

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Clark brings a reputation as a high-energy coach and rising star in the college basketball ranks.

At Tennessee, he played a key role in recruiting and developing top talent, most notably Dalton Knecht, who was selected No. 17 overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 NBA Draft. Knecht was a consensus First Team All-American, SEC Player of the Year, and the recipient of the Julius Erving Award.

Clark’s coaching resume spans multiple levels of basketball. Before Tennessee, he spent a year at Austin Peay, helped lead UIC to the Horizon League title game in 2020, and was a top assistant at prep powerhouse Sunrise Christian Academy from 2017–2019.

He also won the 2019 Nike Peach Jam championship coaching MoKan Elite on the EYBL circuit, developing players such as Kennedy Chandler, Shaq Harrison, Tyrese Maxey, and Drew Timme along the way.

During his time in Knoxville, Tennessee maintained a constant presence in the AP Top 25 and captured both SEC regular season and tournament titles.

Clark helped guide five players to seven All-SEC honors and mentored multiple All-Freshman and All-Defensive team selections, including three-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year Zakai Zeigler.

Clark played collegiately at the junior college level before finishing his career at Lindsey Wilson College (NAIA), where he earned a degree in communications in 2015.

With the addition of Clark, DeVries continues to assemble a staff steeped in recruiting prowess and developmental success.
