Ahron Ulis enters transfer portal
This time of year the transfer portal is a fact of life in the world of college basketball. Players are going to be leaving programs and that’s exactly what happened with Ahron Ulis announcing that he would be entering the transfer portal.
The Chicago area native will be departing the Iowa program after three years. This past year was his most expansive in terms of playing time, starting 28 contests. Ulis averaged 6.1 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists this past year while playing 22.5 points per game. He also made 22 of 69 three point field goal attempts this season.
Ulis had his best stretch of games late in the month of January. He scored 12 points at Ohio State in a loss and followed that up with a career high 17 points in a 63-61 loss to Michigan State. Then in the next game at home against Rutgers, Ulis scored 16 points.

In his first two seasons at Iowa, Ulis played in 17 games as a freshman and 35 as a sophomore. He averaged 1.6 points per game in his first year and 3.1 as a sophomore.
With Ulis entering the transfer portal, it opens up another scholarship for the Hawkeyes. Center Josh Ogundele also entered the portal on Wednesday. The expectation is that Iowa will look to add another guard, perhaps more of a combo guard, via the transfer portal.
