Hawkeyes add cornerback transfer Shahid Barros

The Iowa Hawkeyes have added a commitment out of the transfer portal from South Dakota cornerback Shahid Barros. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Barros officially signed today, according to On3’s Pete Nakos, following a midweek campus visit to Iowa City.
In Barros, the Hawkeyes are getting a cornerback with two years of starting experience at the FCS level that can step in and compete for playing time right away this season. In 2024, he finished the season with 41 tackles and one interception and had 49 tackles and two interceptions the previous year in 2023.
A Massachusetts native, Barros attended prep school at St. Thomas More in Connecticut where he was coached by former Hawkeye Jason Manson, who is now director of player development at Iowa.
Barros comes to Iowa with one year of eligibility remaining.
