BOX SCORE: Hawkeyes win their 30th straight over Wisconsin

It was Senior Day on Sunday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, but the visiting Wisconsin Badgers did not get the memo. The Badgers fought and clawed for the majority of the game, desperately trying to win their first game against the Hawkeyes since 2007. Jan Jensen’s squad took control of the game in the second half, earning an 81-66 win over the Badgers. Iowa finishes the regular season with a 20-9 overall record and a 10-8 mark in Big Ten play.

After going into halftime with the scored tied 35-35, the Hawkeyes were able to turn the tides in the third quarter. They outscored Wisconsin 26-17, including three triples in the first two minutes of the second half. The 9-0 run gave the Hawkeyes some separation and the Badgers were unable to drawn within five points the rest of the way.

Iowa scored 81 points on 62 possessions (1.306 points per possession), while shooting 30 of 58 (51.7%) from the floor, 7 of 20 (35.0%) from three-point range and 14 of 15 (93.3%) from the free throw line. Hannah Stuelke put up 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the way for the Hawkeyes, a good sign for the Hawkeyes going into postseason play. Lucy Olsen added 22 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Syd Affotler (10) and Addi O’Grady both finished in double figures scoring.

Wisconsin scored 66 points on 65 possessions (1.015 points per possession), while shooting 24 of 55 (43.6%) from the floor, 5 of 15 (33.3%) from three-point range and 13 of 15 (86.7%) from the free throw line. The frontcourt duo of Serah Williams-Carter McCray combined for 35 points and 20 rebounds for the Badgers. Tess Myers chipped in 12 points and four made threes.

The Hawkeyes outrebounded the Badgers 34-25, pulling down 23 of 31 (74.2%) defensive rebounds and 11 of 28 (39.3%) offensive rebounds. Hannah Stuelke was critical on the glass, grabbing 15 of Iowa’s 34 rebounds. The turnover battle went in favor of the Hawkeyes, turning it over just 11 times to 13 turnovers for Wisconsin. Iowa outscored the Badgers 24-23 in points off turnovers/second chance points.
