Iowa cornerback Brenden Deasfernandes announced today that he plans to enter the transfer portal.

The 6-foot-0, 195-pound Deasfernandes was a backup cornerback who also played on special teams this year for the Hawkeyes. A Michigan native, he had two tackles in 2023.

In his statement, Deasfernandes said, “First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to the University of Iowa for giving me the chance to be a Hawkeye and play football at a level I’ve dreamed of since childhood. I want to also give thanks to the University for shaping me into the person and player I am today.
