Class of 2026 prospect Brody Schaffer has made his college decision. The 6-foot-1, 184-pound Wisconsin native announced today that he will be attending the University of Iowa to play for head coach Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes.

“Coach Ferentz, Coach Budmayr, Coach Barnes, and the entire Iowa football coaching staff believed in me and gave me this opportunity, and I am forever grateful for that,” Schaffer said in part. “I’m proud to announce that I have found my home and I will be committing to the University of Iowa.”

A high school quarterback at Winneconne, Schaffer has 4.46 speed and put up big numbers as a junior with 1,800 yards passing and 1,774 yards rushing with a total of 48 touchdowns. In college, that kind of playmaking ability could project to multiple different positions, but Iowa and others like his potential best at wide receiver.

A three-star prospect, Schaffer chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Northwestern, Washington State, North Dakota State, Yale, Cornell, Lindenwood, and Texas State.

“I attended their junior day and I immediately felt at home,” Schaffer said. “The way they’ve treated me throughout this process is amazing and I’m forever grateful for their belief in me as a player. They have a great fanbase and support that makes playing at Iowa a really special opportunity. The coaching staff is consistent and has some of the purest and most down to earth people and that’s what has helped me make this decision.”

Overall, Schaffer is commitment No. 7 for the Hawkeyes in the Class of 2026 as he joins offensive linemen Carson Nielsen, Hudson ParliamentOwen Linder, and Colin Whitters, quarterback Cash Herrera, and defensive back Marcello Vitti on Iowa’s early list.

“It’s amazing,” said Schaffer. “It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for and I’m super excited for it.”
