Caitlin Clark named Nancy Lieberman Finalist and Big Ten Player of the Week
Caitlin Clark had a memorable Sunday afternoon. She knocked down a three-pointer at the buzzer to knock off #2 Indiana in front of 15,056 fans at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Clark nearly had her fourth triple-double of the season, as she finished with a game-high 34 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
NANCY LIEBERMAN AWARD
Monday morning has been pretty kind to the National Player of the Year candidate as well. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced that Caitlin Clark was named a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year award. Nika Muhl (UConn), Lauren Park-Lane (Seton Hall), Olivia Miles (Notre Dame) and McKenna Hofschild (Colorado State) join Clark on the finalists list. Clark was the winner of the award in 2022. The winner of the award is announced in late March.
On the season, Caitlin is averaging 27.2 points, 7.4 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game. She is the only player in womenβs basketball averaging above 25 points, five rebounds and five assists per game. She has surpassed those numbers in 15 games this season. Clark ranks second in the country in points per game and first in assists per game. She is one of nine Power 5 guards to average more than 7.0 rebounds per game.
BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The Big Ten conference announced this morning that Caitlin Clark was the conference player of the week. It is her sixth Big Ten weekly honor of the year, which leads the conference. It is her 18th weekly award of her career, which is good for third-most in Big Ten history.

Clark finished with a team-high 18 points, five rebounds and four assists against #5 Maryland on Tuesday. She followed that up with 34 points, nine rebounds and nine assists against #2 Indiana on Sunday. For the week, Caitlin shot 17/35 (48.5%) from the floor, 8/22 (36.4%) from three-point range and 10/12 (83.3%) from the free throw line. Clark now has 12 career 30-point games against AP-ranked opponents.
She last won Big Ten Player of the Week in early February after she scored 42 points in a win against Maryland and then logged a triple-double against Penn State.
Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes will next take the floor on Friday at the Big Ten Tournament in Minneapolis at the Target Center. Iowa will face 7 seed Purdue or 10 seed Wisconsin. Tipoff is set for 5:30pm and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
