Ryan Brosius previews his freshman year with Iowa Baseball.

We have hit the final day of our Iowa Baseball campus newcomer series and it starts with another in-state player. Outfielder Ryan Brosius joins the Hawkeyes out of Whalert High School in Dubuque. Brosius is rated as the #1 outfielder and the #5 player in the state, as well as the #139 outfielder in the country by Perfect Game. As a junior and senior, Ryan was a First Team 3A All-State selection and helped the Golden Eagles to the state tournament at Duane Banks Field this past season. Now, instead of wearing the blue and gold at Duane Banks, Brosius will be donning the black and gold.

We caught up with the 5-foot-10, 155 pound outfielder to discuss his move to Iowa and preview his freshman year with the Hawkeyes.

Q: When do you move to Iowa City and what is your excitement level like for that move in day?

BROSIUS: I move into my dorm on the 13th and I’m very excited to get down there to meet some of the guys and start my training.

Q: What number do you plan on wearing and why?

BROSIUS: I would like to wear number 3 because that’s the number I have worn for my high school career.

Q: What did it mean to be named an All-State selection this past season?

BROSIUS: Being on the all-state team is a huge honor and I am very greatful for being named to such an honor.

Q: How would you evaluate the way you played during your senior season?

BROSIUS: My senior season did not go as well as I would have hoped but I still achieved a few goals this season and loved making a great run to the state tournament with my team.

Q: What have you been doing since the high school season to prepare for when you join the team?

BROSIUS: Since my high school season has ended I have been working out a lot more and also had the opportunity to play in the all-star series which was an amazing time and a great opportunity.
