Considine earns preferred walk-on opportunity

Sean Considine was one of the all-time success stories as a walk-on at Iowa, coming in without a scholarship offer to his name and leaving as an All-Big Ten safety, an Academic All-American, and an NFL Draft pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2005. Considine went on to win a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens in 2013 before retiring from football and moving back home to Byron, IL to work as a financial planner and raise his family.
Fast forward to the Class of 2026 and now his son, Caden Considine, has a similar path available to playing college football, if he decides to pursue it, after earning a preferred walk-on opportunity at Iowa’s camp on Sunday.
“I didn’t expect it at all, so it made it that much more special,” Considine told HawkeyeReport.com. “Especially to have the opportunity to go to such an amazing program like Iowa where my father succeeded as well.”
A three-sport athlete at Byron, the 6-foot-0, 205-pound Considine has been on Iowa’s radar for quite some time, of course, and had an impressive junior year on both sides of the ball, but it was his performance at camp today working at linebacker that took things to the next level.
“At this camp, I ran the second fastest 40 time at 4.52 and then broad jumped 9 foot, 11 inches,” said Considine. “Both were among the top scores at the camp being 205 lbs. The numbers and reps I got were great.”
Working with Iowa linebackers coach Seth Wallace, Considine said he felt right at home on the Iowa practice field.

“I love Coach Wallace and have always felt connected to him and the school in general,” Considine said.
As far as potentially following in his father’s footsteps, Considine says it is not a challenge that he will shy away from if the opportunity is right.
“I’ve had my eyes on beating him and making a name for myself my whole life,” said Considine. “Yeah it takes a lot of hard work, but there is nothing I want more.”
For now though, the plan is to stay patient, however, and let the summer play out with a number of more camp stops scheduled. Up next will be the mega camp at North Central College in the Chicagoland area on Tuesday.
