Dordt TE transfer Hayden Large headed to Iowa
Dordt tight end transfer Hayden Large is headed to the University of Iowa. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound Large announced tonight that he has accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity from the Hawkeyes following a visit to campus this past week.
“The culture that Iowa has is one that I want to a part of,” Large told HawkeyeReport.com. “It’s a blue-collar mentality and that is what I am.”
Originally from Hudsonville, MI, Large graduated from Unity Christian High School where he was teammates with Hillsdale College wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa, who is also an Iowa target in the transfer portal.

In the Class of 2020, Large signed with Dordt University in Sioux Center, IA. There, he posted career numbers of 62 catches for 950 yards and 12 touchdowns in three seasons at the NAIA level. Now, he looks forward to seeing what he can do in the Big Ten at Iowa, where he will begin classes on January 17.
“I’m a big, physical kid who gets after it,” said Large, who has two years of eligibility remaining.
The Iowa coaching staff has now landed commitments from three of their four visitors this past week. That includes Saginaw Valley State offensive tackle Daijon Parker, who accepted a scholarship today, along with preferred walk-ons Jackson Filer and Hayden Large. Now, the Hawkeyes are waiting on a decision from Stanford offensive tackle Walter Rouse, who has Iowa, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Auburn among his finalists.
