Drew Thelwell discusses painful loss
While the pain in his ankle in recent weeks was pretty substantial, what was even more painful for Drew Thelwell was sitting out and not being able to help his teammates on the basketball court. Thelwell was health enough to play on Friday night and led the Hawkeyes in scoring, but it wasn’t enough as Iowa fell on the road to Northwestern.
Following the loss, Thelwell spoke to the media about the loss to the Wildcats. He discussed how he felt getting back out there and the pain he has felt not being able to help his teammates. He also talks about the leadership from Payton Sandfort, who was in tears leaving the court after the game.
