Dylan Stecker makes college decision
In-state wide receiver Dylan Stecker has made his college decision. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound multisport star from Spirit Lake is going to be a Hawkeye after accepting a roster spot from the Iowa coaching staff over the weekend.
“He is going to Iowa and signing on Wednesday,” Spirit Lake head coach Josh Bolluyt told HawkeyeReport.com.
Coming in, it will be a preferred walk-on opportunity to start out with for Stecker, who had a huge senior year last fall with 59 catches for 1,223 yards and 19 touchdowns.
With a 38″ vertical and some impressive dunking highlights, there is a lot to like about the Class of 2025 prospect and his potential once he gets into a Division I football program.

“Dylan is an incredible athlete,” said Bolluyt. “He’s incredibly explosive and super physical. I think depending on the system and style of play, he could play wide receiver or tight end depending on how he develops. He’s one of the hardest working kids I’ve ever been around.”
The decision creates quite the dynamic for the Stecker family as Dylan’s twin brother, Ethan Stecker, signed with the Iowa State Cyclones in December. Now, they will have one twin on each side of the Cy-Hawk rivalry.
Iowa State, like Iowa, extended a preferred walk-on opportunity to Dylan, plus he earned scholarship offers from Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, and South Dakota State during the recruiting process.
