Fitzgibbon makes college decision
Defensive lineman Brad Fitzgibbon has made his college decision. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound Chicago native announced his verbal commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes today after making his official visit to Iowa City this past weekend.
“It’s an opportunity to be coached by a staff who produces one of the best defenses in the country year after year,” Fitzgibbon told HawkeyeReport.com. “And equally important was the team culture and chemistry that I felt with the other commits and players.”
A three-star prospect with impressive junior film, Fitzgibbon is a perfect fit at defensive tackle for the Hawkeyes and was impressed by the time he spent with the position group in Iowa City.
“The opportunity to play there and learn from the talent and experience in the defensive line room and the coaches is an honor,” said Fitzgibbon.

Fitzgibbon, who had narrowed things down to Iowa, Michigan State, and Kansas in recent weeks, also earned scholarship offers from Kansas State, Wisconsin, Arizona State, Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Connecticut, Miami-OH, Toledo, Central Michigan, Akron, Bowling Green, Ball State, Buffalo, and Kent State during the recruiting process.
“I feel that today is the biggest, and also the best, day of my life so far and making this decision knowing I’ve asked every single question possible reinforces my choice,” Fitzgibbon said.
Overall, Fitzgibbon is commitment No. 12 for the Hawkeyes as he joins Thomas Meyer, Carson Cooney, Joey VanWetzinga, Jimmy Sullivan, Burke Gautcher, Eli Johnson, Drew MacPherson, Mason Woods, Cameron Herron, Lucas Allgeyer, and CJ Bell in Iowa’s recruiting class of 2025.
