Fran McCaffery discusses the Hawkeyes win over Northern Illinois
After 20 minutes of play on Friday night, it appeared as though the Hawkeyes were in for a 40 minute battle against Northern Illinois. The Huskies hit eight of ten three-point attempts in the first half to keep the game close. In the second half, the Iowa defense stepped up and it allowed them to extend their lead and turn the game into a blowout. The Hawkeyes outscored NIU 49-26 in the second half en route to a 103-74 victory.
Following the win, Fran McCaffery met with the media to discuss what they did to turn the tides in the second half, the spread out scoring attack and if he feels like his team is ready to jump back into Big Ten play. He also talks about how important Dasonte Bowen and Josh Dix were off the bench in the win.
