Fran McCaffery on the loss to Illinois.

It was a familiar story for the Iowa basketball team and Fran McCaffery on Tuesday night. The Hawkeyes started slow, caught up, and then faded in the second half due to a short bench and in this case, some uncharacteristic poor turnovers, on their way to an 81-61 loss in Champaign to the Fighting Illini.

Following the defeat, McCaffery met with the media to discuss what happened to his squad once again on the road. He was choosing his words careful when discussing the reason for leading scorers Josh Dix and Payton Sandfort struggling to score the basketball for fear of getting fined by the conference. He also talked about how the start of both halves of basketball really spelled doom for the Iowa team in this game.
