Fran McCaffery has been impressed with how his team has handled summer practices.

Fran McCaffery is entering his 14th season as head coach of the Iowa basketball team this season. He has won 258 games with the program and has made the postseason ten times, including seven NCAA Tournament appearances. Iowa is coming off a 19-14 season that saw the Hawkeyes fall in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament to Auburn.

Iowa returns just one starter this season and for the first time in several years the Hawkeyes do not have a sure fire breakout player on the roster. Could it be Tony Perkins? Patrick McCaffery? Payton Sandfort? Valporaiso transfer Ben Krikke? Time will tell, but they will get a chance to sort some things out during their overseas trip to Paris, Valencia and Barcelona for three games.

Coach McCaffery met with the media on Thursday to discuss the teams trip across the Atlantic, how the team has handled the accelerated summer with games on the horizon and more.
