Fran McCaffery on a meaningful win over Penn State
There was plenty of meaning for Fran McCaffery in Iowa’s 90-81 win over Penn State. His son, Patrick, reached 1,000 career points. Standout win Payton Sandfort put up the first career triple-double in program history and most importantly, the Iowa basketball team picked up a much needed win as they chase a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament once again in March.
Following the win, McCaffery spoke to the media about the performance by Sandfort and being surprised Iowa had never had a triple double by any player. He talks about his son reaching 1,000 points and how he has had to overcome a lot to even play college basketball. Finally he discusses how the Hawkeyes were able to get the win and handle adversity late in the game.
