After an 0-3 start in Big Ten play, the Iowa men’s basketball team knew they needed to string some wins together to keep the season from potentially falling apart. A win over Rutgers on Saturday got the Hawkeyes something in the win column, while an emphatic 94-76 win over Nebraska tonight got them to 2-3 in conference play. Now, they will look to get back to .500 when they travel to Minnesota on Monday. Six players scored in double figures, while freshman Owen Freeman led the way with 22 points. Tony Perkins (11 pts, 15 ast), Owen Freeman (22 pts, 10 reb) and Payton Sandfort (16 pts, 10 reb) gave Iowa a rare trio of double-doubles on the night.

Following the win, head coach Fran McCaffery met with the media to discuss how the team energized itself with a small crowd and what has worked well over the last two games to get wins. He also discusses what he saw from Josh Dix and Patrick McCaffery, as well as the big nights from Perkins and Freeman.

Up Next, the Hawkeyes will play the aforementioned Minnesota Golden Gophers at Williams Arena in Minneapolis on Monday night. Tipoff is set for 5:00pm CT on the Big Ten Network.
