After a practice that DLine Coach Kelvin Bell described as one of the worst he’s ever seen prior to the Hawkeyes matchup against Purdue, the group had a players only meeting. They turned the tides with a six-sack week against the Boilermakers and have been playing well every since. Now, they enter the bye week looking to rest and recharge before the November stretch run that will decide whether they make it to Indianapolis for a Big Ten Championship appearance.

Deontae Craig will spend his bye week celebrating his birthday, with his dog and resting up for the final four games of the year. He spoke about living with the three starting linebackers, having a bye week late in the year and taking a mental break from football for a few days.

Yahya Black didn’t have a lot to say about the bye week. He said that everyone is beat up in the game of football and you enjoy the bye week wherever it shows up on the schedule. Black spoke about the players only meeting prior to Purdue, and how he plans to hit the virtual links for some Wii Golf.

Ethan Hurkett discussed his plans to go hunting with a couple of teammates over the weekend and talked about what they bye week will be like for him, as he resets before the final month of the season.
