Hawkeyes and Hoosiers. Holmes and Czinano. Clark and Berger. Top ten matchup. Big Ten regular season title may be on the line. Sold out Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

It’s hard to imagine another storyline that could add to how big the game is going to be. Yet, another layer to the February 26th matchup got added this morning.

ESPN’s College Gameday is coming to Iowa City.

“Our program is thrilled to be one-of-three schools selected this season to have College GameDay on our campus. It’s a huge honor and we are looking forward to showcasing our program on one of the best stages,” said Lisa Bluder in a press release from the school.

It is just the second time that any of the Gameday shows will visit Iowa City. Hubbard Park on the Iowa campus hosted the football version of College Gameday back in 2006. The show will be broadcast live from Carver-Hawkeye Arena from 10-11:00am. Elle Duncan will be the host of the show alongside Andraya Carter, Rebecca Lobo, Carolyn Peck and Holly Rowe.

“We’ve had our eye on this Indiana-Iowa matchup all season for women’s College GameDay as an opportunity to showcase these outstanding programs and top players like Caitlin Clark and MacKenzie Holmes,” said Patricia Lowry, ESPN vice president of production. “We’re thrilled to travel to Carver-Hawkeye Arena for the first time and we expect a great atmosphere with the way students and fans at Iowa support this program and this rivalry.”

Carver-Hawkeye Arena has hosted seven crowds of 10,000+ fans for women’s games this season, including a season-high 13,802 against Iowa State on December 7th. That number will be broken with the fourth sellout in two seasons.

“We play in front of 13,000 every single night. That’s what we do in Iowa City. A sold out Carver-Hawkeye Arena is 15,000 and that’s what it will be when Indiana comes to town,” said Caitlin Clark after their loss at Indiana on February 9th.

Clark shared her reaction to the announcement on Twitter.

The #7 Hawkeyes are 21-5 (13-2) on the season and are coming off a 91-61 win against Wisconsin, while the #2 Hoosiers are 24-1 (14-1) after an 83-59 win against #13 Ohio State.

The game itself is set to tipoff at 1:00pm on ESPN. The game will be called by Dave O’Brien, Rebecca Lobo and Holly Rowe.
