How to Watch: Iowa women's basketball at #18 Ohio State

The Iowa women’s basketball team is playing as well as anyone in the country right now. They have won 15 games in a row and are the #2 ranked team in the AP Poll. Today, the Hawkeyes travel to Value City Arena for a matchup against the 18th-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. It will be the 76th all-time meeting between the two programs, with Iowa leading the series 38-37. The Hawkeyes won both matchups last season, including a 105-72 blowout win in the Big Ten Tournament Title Game.

Lisa Bluder and the Hawkeyes enter the matchup with an 18-1 record, including a 7-0 mark in Big Ten play. They have now won 32 of their last 35 games against Big Ten opponents dating back to 2022. Iowa leads the country with 11 wins against Q1/2 opponents, including ranked wins over #7 Kansas State, #14 Virginia Tech, #16 Indiana and #24 Iowa State.

The Hawkeyes are led by National Player of the Year Caitlin Clark who is averaging 31.0 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game. Last time out, Iowa defeated Wisconsin 96-50 behind 32 points, seven rebounds and five assists from Clark. She surpassed former Baylor center Brittney Griner for fourth on the NCAA all-time scoring list in the second quarter. Kate Martin finished with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Sydney Affolter added 12 points, six rebounds and four assists off the bench. The Hawkeyes have now won 29 straight meetings against the Badgers.

As for Ohio State, they come into the contest on a four-game winning streak. The Buckeyes have a 13-3 record, including a 5-1 mark in Big Ten play. Their losses have come against #5 UCLA, #6 USC and Michigan, while they have quality wins over Maryland, Tennessee and Michigan State.

First Team All-Big Ten grad senior guard Jacy Sheldon is leading the team, averaging 17.2 points per game and has made a team-high 27 three-pointers. Last time out, the Buckeyes defeated Maryland in College Park 84-76. Five OSU players scored in double figures, led by center Rebeka Mikulasikova who finished with a game-high 20 points, three rebounds and three assists. Taylor Thierry, Cotie McMahon and Celeste Taylor combined for 42 points and 26 rebounds.
