There is an almost entirely new basketball team that has gathered in Iowa City this summer. The Hawkeye basketball team only has two players were part of the program that are returning this season. While several players and coaches were together last year at Drake, it’s still a new dynamic for Ben McCollum and his staff to coach and prepare for the upcoming season.

After practice on Tuesday afternoon, assistant coaches Bryston Williams and Josh Sash met with the media to share their thoughts on summer workouts to this point. Williams discussed players that have impressed this summer, comparing Brendan Hausen to Mitch Mascari and the how the continuity with some of the Drake guys has helped speed up the transition to Iowa. Meanwhile, Sash spoke about getting the assistant job at Iowa, growing up a Hawkeye fan and finally being able to coach after helping rebuild the roster.
