Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson out due to injury
The Iowa football team will be without their leading rusher today when they host Western Michigan. Kaleb Johnson, who led the Hawkeyes in rushing last season as a true freshman, will miss some time with an ankle injury.
Johnson is leading the Iowa ground game this season with 91 rushing yards on 34 attempts. He also has one rushing touchdown this year. Last year, Johnson emerged as Iowa’s leader on the ground, finishing the season with 779 yards on the ground and a team high six touchdowns. He had a career best 200 yards rushing against Purdue.

With Johnson sidelined look for Iowa to lean on Jaziun Patterson and Leshon Williams for their rushing attack. Patterson had a breakout game against Iowa State last week, including a 59 yard burst in the first half. He is second on the team in rushing yards this season 84 yards rushing on 15 attempts. Williams has 19 yards on 7 attempts this season.
Iowa’s third running back will likely become true freshman Kamari Moulton. He made the travel roster last weekend to Ames and has impressed the Iowa coaches with his hard running style.
