Payton Sandfort Celebrate
Payton Sandfort and the Hawkeyes celebrate a huge road win.

During this stretch of Iowa basketball it has been a team effort to get to the winners circle. Saturday was no different as Iowa defeated Northwestern 87-80 in Evanston to move to 10-9 in Big Ten play. That team effort included 10 points and 14 assists from point guard Tony Perkins. It also included red hot shooting from Josh Dix, who scored over 20 points in a game for the third straight contest. Finally, it included 23 points from Payton Sandfort.

We spoke with all three following the game to get their thoughts on how this team has grown as a unit. They have gone from a squad that sometimes lost games like this earlier in the year and now they are winning those contest with key plays down the stretch. Perkins talks about his play finding Patrick McCaffery for a three point field goal in the final minute. Sandfort goes into detail about his drive and foul late in the game and Dix talks about his growth as a scorer.
