Future Iowa football schedules announced
A few months ago the Big Ten released conference football schedules for the teams in the league. Those schedules included USC and UCLA for the first time. Since that time, the Big Ten has added Oregon and Washington to bring the total number of schools in the league to 18 starting in 2024.
That meant the league would have to go back to the drawing board with their schedules, which they did. The finished product was revealed and it certainly had an impact on the Iowa Hawkeyes moving forward.
The good news for Hawkeye fans who are into trophy games and rivalries, Iowa kept their protected games each year against Minnesota (Floyd of Rosedale), Wisconsin (Heartland), and Nebraska (Heroes).
Schedules for each season running out to 2028 were released and one thing jumped out, Iowa will be headed to the west coast for games every season. In 2024 Iowa will play against UCLA at the Rose Bowl. In 2025, Iowa travels to USC. In the 2026 season, the Hawkeyes will play at Washington and in 2027 they are headed to play at Oregon for the first time since 1994. Then in 2028, Iowa heads back to USC.
The four new schools will also be traveling to play at Kinnick Stadium in the future. Washington comes to Iowa City in 2024. In 2025 Oregon will be at Iowa. USC and UCLA will both be playing at Kinnick Stadium in 2027.
Here are the full schedules. Dates and times will be announced for the conference games at a later date.
